20 woks Pregnant & our Gender Ultrasound

Saturday mark us at 20 wks along with Baby #2!!!! Tuesday we had our ultrasound at St. Mary's @ 930. We arrived & checked in patiently waiting to see the baby & to find out if it was a boy or girl!
Here is one of the profile views we saw of the baby...reminds me of Patrick.
Here is our newest BOY in the Hummel Family! He was a little camera shy as you can see in this pic (he had his hand by his face the entire time!) Here is a pic of the back side of him.....
He is laying strange spot so it was hard to get good pics of him. We have to go back in 4 wks to see him again bc the way my placenta is laying it is hard to see his heart up close & personal. My placenta is laying right on top of him so you have to look through the placenta & then baby boys shoulder was right on top of his heart that she couldn't get a clear view of his heart. From what we could see it was beating normally! We are very excited for our new addition to arrive... Hard to believe in 19 wks he will be here!

18 wks Pregnant with Baby #2

Recently I have been feeling little flutters & movements from the baby, which makes this pregnancy seem more real! I had my last check up on 1/31 which made me almost 16wks pregnant....still weighing in at 119 pds. Dr. Neidhart told me that if I didn't gain by next check up then she would start to get concerned. She did tell me that from now til my due date I should gain a pd a wk...I don't know if I like the fact I may be gaining 24+ pds! Baby sounded healthy at 144 beats per minute. This baby heartbeat averages b/t 144-150. Patrick was always 158's. I have notice my breast are starting to expand more...I think it is time to look through my maternity bin and find me a new bra! I still am wearing my regular pants & t-shirts. Ocasinally I put on a comfy maternity top to relax in at night time. I have just started to use tums for some heartburn but this time around it isn't as nearly as bad as it was with Patrick. Not sure if this baby will be bald or not...but I know with all the heartburn I had with Patrick, that is the reason why he was born with a head full of hair & still is full of hair! My belly is starting to expand so it may be time I get out my maternity pants & shirts...I may have to purchase capris this time since I'm due during the hot summer months. Here is a pic of me a just 6wks...
And here I am at 18wks pregnant...

I recently started looking back at my old blogs abt Patrick's pregnancy & I feel like I'm carrying different this time around. I'm not sure if my body is just putting my weight in different spots now. My next appt is on Patrick's 2nd Birthday...2/24. So in just over a wk we will get to hear the baby's heartbeat! It never gets old hearing him or her! Our ultrasound is scheduled for Tuesday March 4th at 9:30. We have to go to St. Mary's Hospital and go to the Maternity Fetal Department. This will be a whole new experience this time around since with Patrick we just had the ultrasound at dean fish hatch. But with my miscarriage & the problems I had at the end of Patrick's pregnancy, they just want to make sure everything is looking good with this baby. So in a little over 2 wks we  will find out if Patrick is getting a baby brother or a baby sister, as long as baby cooperates. I have mixed feeling on wheather I think this one is a boy or girl. These pregnancies have been totally different, so some days I think I'm having a girl but I'm not positive it's not a boy. Either way we will be happy....I'm just excited knowing we are almost 1/2 way through this pregnancy.

Baby Hummel #2

My last couple of months my period has been off the normal 28 days. I had been very stressed at work..so that was I thought was happening in November. My period was expected around 11/9-11/14. So when the 14th came and gone I decided to wait til the 19th to take a pregnancy test if no period was in sight. So the morning of the 19th I took the test and walked away for the full 3 minutes to look at it. When I came back I saw this....

I started freaking out bc I wasn't ready for another baby & boy did I know NEAL definitely wasn't ready. So Neal woke up to use the bathroom, so I quickly told him & he was like no way..again. The reason for his response like that is bc the last time we got pregnant I was on birth control..this time the EXACT same thing. So I decides to call my reg dr and ask what I should do. So I called them & they said I should come to their office to take another urine sample. Mind you I didn't drive Neal to work that day so I packed up Patrick & pushed him all the way up to the Oregon Dean Clinic. I arrived & was able to get in right away. I went back to the waiting room & I got the results...positive. So we got home & I called my OBGYN office & schedule an appt on Dec. 6th. Since I've had a previous miscarriage Dr. Neidhart wanted to do an ultrasound to make sure everything was ok with this baby. The wk of my appt Patrick had came down with puenomia so Neal stayed home with him while I went to my appt. I got to the ultrasound waiting area & MAN did I have to go to the bathroom. 10 minutes later the lady came & got me. I laid down & she put on the gel, she pushed the Doppler around and said you need to empty your bladder, you too full. So I was soo thankful bc I really had to pee. I thought I saw a baby but it was hard to see bc I was soo full. Next round I was able to see the smallest peanut ever in my tummy. You could see the flicker from the heart beating. Baby Hummel heart was beating 146 beats per minute. Here is a pic of our peanut just shy of 8 wks...

My dr appt with Dr. Neidhart went well. I weighed in at 121 pds..2 pds heavier then my pre-pregnancy weight. Fast forward 4 wks to Jan. 2nd 2014, I went in for my 12 wk check up. I weighed in at 119. Dr. Neidhart asked if I had been sick a lot lately & I said only a few times this month. She said well you have lost 2 pds, since last check up...mind you I have no idea how I lost bc I'm eating like a pig! So I laid down so I could get the gel on to hear the babies heartbeat. At first I was freaking out bc I couldn't hear anything & I was just nervous bc of the previous miscarriage. Dr. Neidhart stopped & told me sometimes you can't hear with the Doppler before 12wks so she said I'm going to grab the portable ultrasound to check the baby. So she scanned my stomach & their was our precious baby with his or her heart beating at 150. Dr. Neidhart said the placenta was in the way so it was hard to hear the heartbeat. Very blessed to be able to see my little peanut in living black & white! My next check up is on Jan. 31st...I will be a day shy of 16wks. Hoping all stays well with baby #2!
